HISTORY OF LAS PALMAS:

Gran Canaria because its volcanic origin, rugged terrain and geographic, is an island with an enormous variety of landscapes, from arid desserts to dense forests, from mountains to beaches. Gran Canaria is a word biosphere reserve. It is an island of nature and sports. Surfing, hiking, mountain biking, and climbing, are activities to perform in a landscape between volcanos and ravines. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital city and biggest city of Gran Canaria, was founded in 1478. Christopher Columbus visited 3 times in his way to the Americas, becoming the architectural advance for the Hispanic America. This is a city of tourism, port, commerce and congresses, culture and University. Las Palmas keeps its origins and its five centuries of history on it streets and squares. In Vegueta and Triana, the colonial old town, you can travel in time. Las Palmas possess one of the best urban beaches in the world, the 3 km long beach “Las Canteras”, where the venue is located.
